Kane County Burning Regulations

  • Burning of garbage is NOT permitted at any time

  • Burn on sunny days from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

  • Do not burn when wind exceeds 10 mph

  • Do not burn within 20 feet of any building, structure, or property line

  • Any burning must be supervised until it is extinguished

  • Supervised means you are there and water is at hand

  • Burning for prairie restoration or firefighting training is permitted

  • Burning of brush in fireplaces and self-contained outdoor wood-burning devices is permitted

  • Burning of brush for recreational fires is permitted, but no larger than 3' x 3' x3'

  • Ceremonial fires for private or public event

Notice must be given to the local fire department, and a permit must be obtained from the health department​
